When Star Buds approached me to create an apparel capsule, the goal wasn’t to make another collection of logoed T-shirts. It was to build a retail-ready line that could sit confidently alongside established streetwear brands, and create something customers would genuinely want to buy and wear.
Star Buds is a multi-state cannabis operator I had already supported through packaging, production, and broader company needs. This capsule gave us an opportunity to extend the brand beyond the dispensary shelf and turn its identity into a complete lifestyle experience.
I developed a collection of fully considered pieces, from custom graphics and patterns to materials, embroidery, jacquard weaving, garment construction, accessories, and in-store presentation. Every detail was designed to feel intentional, cohesive, and valuable, not like promotional merchandise.
Apparel is one of the most overlooked revenue streams in retail. Done correctly, it delivers an incredible return: customers pay to represent your company in the real world. It creates revenue, strengthens brand recognition, builds culture, and keeps the business visible long after someone leaves the store.
The difference is in the execution. Customers don’t get excited about another basic shirt with a logo dropped on the chest. They get excited about exclusive products that feel connected to the brand while still standing on their own as great apparel.
Don’t just make clothing. Make the best clothing you can, pieces people are proud to buy, excited to wear, and motivated to share. In a world full of forgettable logoed T-shirts, the brands willing to push further are the ones that stand out.
