Joy Cult

Skateboarding and fingerboarding keep getting closer, and this setup is a perfect example. Today I’m unboxing and setting up the 34 mm Joycult x Creature David Gravette fingerboard, with Joycult x Independent trucks and the smaller Joycult wheels I’ve been riding.

Once it’s built, I skate it for a bit and take it out for a few street clips. As someone who grew up skateboarding, I love seeing skateboard culture cross over into fingerboarding. The David Gravette Creature graphic is one I’d be excited to see on a full-size skateboard, so getting to build it as a fingerboard, with Independent trucks to match, is especially cool. It makes this feel like a real skate setup in miniature. I’ve been riding the small Joycult wheels, and they’re dope. I want to try the Classics eventually, and maybe even one of the bigger shapes, but the ones I’ve looked for always seem to be sold out. If you’ve tried multiple Joycult wheel sizes, let me know how they compare and which shape I should pick up next.

This video is the whole experience: opening the new setup, putting the 34 mm deck together, getting a feel for the trucks and wheels, and seeing how it skates on a few street spots. I’m looking forward to spending more time on this one. What’s your favorite crossover between a skateboard brand and fingerboarding? Drop your current fingerboard setup in the comments too, I’m always looking for new decks, trucks, and wheels to try.
